State Ayurvedic College & Hospital

About College

One of the oldest ayurvedic hospitals in Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow is the State Ayurvedic College and Hospital. The hospital’s OPD consists of the following departments: Shalakya, Shalya Tantra, Panchkarma, Prasuti & Stree Roga, Kaumar Bhritta Department, Kaya Chikitsa, Roga Nidan Department, and Swasth Vritta Department.

Inspired by the late Gupta, the Ayurvedic Hospital was founded in 1948 on the campus of K.G. Medical College in Lucknow, under the vice chancellorship of Acharya Narendra Dev. Initially serving as the college’s medical superintendent and principal, Dr. V.S. Yagnik oversaw its development via the combined efforts of succeeding principals. The Old King’s English Hospital building underwent renovations towards the end of 1954, and the State Ayurvedic College of Lucknow relocated to Tulsi Das Marg. The five-year Ayurvedic doctor curriculum began in 1959.

The State Ayurvedic College served as one of the founding colleges of the University of Lucknow’s Ayurvedic faculty. The college’s postgraduate M.D. (Ayurvedic) programs began in 1971–1972. Ayurvedic nursing and pharmacist courses, Ph.D. (Ayurveda), M.D. (Ay) in five topics, and BAMS (Ayurveda Charya) are currently offered effectively by the college.

The only government-run ayurvedic college in Lucknow is State Ayurvedic College, which is part of the university’s ayurvedic faculty. Nonetheless, the U.P. government’s Secretary (Ayush Section) and Director of Ayurveda oversee administrative oversight. The first set of laws of Lucknow University governs the teaching and learning process. Teachers are hired on the suggestion of the U.P. Public Service Commission, and students selected through the CPMT/NEET program uphold the college’s equality status.
