A private college founded in 1972, Shri Lakshmi Narayan Ayurvedic College is located in Amritsar. With a yearly intake of 50 seats, the college is associated with the Punjabi Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, headquartered in Faridkot.
In Amritsar, the late Shri Pujya Pt. Mayadhari Ji Shastri, a well-known ayurvedic doctor and philanthropist in North India, founded the Shri Lakshmi Narayan Ayurvedic College. Since 1972, Shree Durgiana Education Foundation, Amritsar, has been in charge of this college. At first, Bharat Varsheeya Ayurved Vidyapeeth, Delhi, prescribed the course (with syllabus). Following that, in 1976, it became associated with Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar to offer the B.A.M.S. program, as required by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, located in New Delhi.
It is one of the most prestigious and ancient ayurveda institutes, having produced numerous well-known ayurvedic doctors, surgeons, gynecologists, and specialists in different fields. Our school has won numerous P.G. seats across India, not just in Punjab. Our organization is very interested in taking part in conferences, workshops, extracurricular activities, and sports both within the state and nationally. The institute has automated every section and provides projectors and audiovisual aids. The Institute is dedicated to offering the greatest instruction and reasonably priced medical care.
Hospital:The Institute has well equipped 14 Departments as per CCIM and duly qualified teaching faculty, a 60 bedded hospital which runs 24 X 7, clinical OPDs well equipped operation theatre,labour room, X-ray deptt., clinical laboratory,ultrasonography, which serves economical treatments .Our pharmacy manufacture pure ayurvedic drugs.
Ayurveda is an Indian system of Medicine (ISM) erupted since time immemorial and its survival for thousands of years, is a reason sufficient to believe its efficacy & acceptance. Ayurveda means Ayu + Ved—-a ved of life . This explains about Body, Mind and Soul too. The only Healing Science which quotes the importance and links about Body (Sharir). Mind (Mun) & Soul (Atma).
The post-independence socio-political and economic approaches to Ayurveda has not given the desirable results.The establishment of CCIM and Ministry of AYUSH and present socio-political multiplanner thought process about health care can prove a big boon to reflourish Ayurveda. The present Government is bent upon to develop AYUSH. Ayurveda is by default Indian . This opportunity may not recur. Lets run.
