About College
Sheth J.P. Govt. Ayurvedic College is a government college located in Bhavanagar that was founded in 1963. With 60 seats available each year, the college is associated with Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, which is situated in Gujarat.
In May 1960, the Department of Ayurveda was established under the Health and Panchayat department, concurrently with the state of Gujarat’s creation. It was renamed the Traditional System of Medicine Directorate in 1979. Once more, it was renamed the Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy Directorate. On April 19, 2018, the name “Directorate Indian System of Medicine & Homeopathy” was once again changed to “Department AYUSH” (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani Siddha and Homeopathy) by Gujarat government resolution No. MKM/102017/3758/CHH. In 1983, the directorate was moved to Gandhinagar’s Dr. Jivraj Mehta Bhavan.
The department is in charge of overseeing, directing, inspecting, developing, financing, and administering all activities in the areas of education, health services, herbal gardens, production of traditional Ayurvedic medicine, practitioner registration, technical staff training, and research, among other things.
