One of Punjab’s premier Ayurvedic institutions, the Government Ayurvedic College Patiala and Hospital serves as a model facility for the advancement of rigorous standards in patient care, instruction, training, and research. Initially connected to the PEPSU Ayurvedic Board, it was eventually linked to the Punjab Ayurvedic & Unani Faculty of Medicine after it was founded in 1952. The institution received affiliation from Punjabi University in Patiala, Punjab, in 1970. From 1999 to 2011, the institute was associated with Baba Farid University of Health Science, located in Faridkot, Punjab, following its founding. Following the establishment of a distinct Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic University in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, in 2011, the institute has remained connected with the latter till this day.
Students and staff at the institute can utilize the well-equipped IT center, which offers broadband internet, scanning, printing, and other computer-related services.
The institute features a 400-seat state-of-the-art auditorium. The auditorium has a state-of-the-art echo system, is well-ventilated, and periodically hosts a variety of audiovisual presentations for students’ educational purposes.
Library: The institute is equipped with a well-stocked library that has 13927 books, periodicals, bulletins, and prominent local and national newspapers. 4392 volumes from the Book Bank are available for distribution to students in the reserved category. Fifty students and staff members of the institute have access to a quiet and relaxing reading space.
Hostel: There is a separate hostel on site for boys and girls at the institute. There are 102 admissions spaces available in the boys’ hostel and 86 in the girls’ hostel.
For BAMS and D-Pharmacy students, the institute provides a placement cell where they are periodically informed about various professions in the health field as well as their career options. Reputable Ayurvedic and health corporations are requested to help place students more effectively both domestically and internationally.
