About College
Founded in 1899 as a school to teach Ayurveda and Sanskrit, the Lalit Hari State Ayurveda College is located in Pilibhit. On land they provided, the late Sahu Lalita Prasad and his younger brother, the late Sahu Hari Prasad, founded it. The college is among the nation’s and state’s oldest Ayurvedic colleges. The college’s administration made the decision to operate it as an Ayurvedic college in 1939. The State Government assumed control of the college’s administration in 1959.
The college has been renowned for its high caliber of instruction since its founding. At first, it provided a two-year Vaidya Raj degree after a three-year “Vaidya Bhushan” (Ayurvedic Shastri) curriculum.
Over time, the degree’s name was altered to DIMS, AMBS, and finally to its current form, BAMS. It was a part of Kanpur University in 1971. On October 10, 1974, the State Government took complete control of the institution and renamed it Government College. Since then, the college has been providing students from all across the nation with high-quality education.
The deep woodlands that encircle Pilibhit City are home to Shorea robusta as ground vegetation. Many different kinds of plants and animals can be found in abundance in the forest. It offers a plethora of opportunities for plant and plant-based medicinal research. This was the concept behind Dravyaguna’s Post Graduate degree program’s establishment in 1986.
Established by the late Acharya Vishwanath Dwivedi, the college boasts a sizable herbal garden with 300 varieties of medicinal plants. The college also maintains a 40-acre farm for the production of herbal medications. Its well-stocked, GMP-certified pharmacy provides medication to 17 of the state’s western districts.
There are several volumes on Ayurveda, philosophy, and Jyotish in the campus library.
For academic and examination purposes, the College was previously connected with Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University in Kanpur, which was originally known as Kanpur University. It was connected to Mahatma Jyoti Ba Phule Rohilkhand University Bareilly in 2014, and it adheres to the curriculum and syllabus that have been approved by the Central Council of Indian Medicine.
