About College
One of the top Ayurvedic institutions in North Karnataka, Shri Vijay Mahantesh Ayurvedic Medical College of Shri Vijay Mahantesh Vidya Vardhak Sanghs’s Ilkal was founded in 1992 with the goal of bringing Ayurveda to the rural areas of the state. Prior to the establishment of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bangalore in 1996, it was affiliated with Karnataka University, Dharwad. Since then, the college’s and hospital’s student intake capacity has increased from 50 to 60, and they are recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) and the Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi.
In Karnataka, S.V.M. Ayurvedic Medical College is a hospital-integrated medical school where students begin their clinical experience at an early stage. Students in their second, third, and final years attend rounds at the R.P.K. Ayurvedic Medical Center, the most up-to-date hospital in ILKAL. Students at our S.V.M. Ayurvedic Medical College interact with patients of all ages. Students also practice taking patient histories and doing physical examinations on our campus.
A large, well-stocked library, an anatomy dissection theater, a physiology lab, staff rooms, a conference room, an exam room, and lecture halls are all located within the college building. The college offers resources for computer-based learning, multimedia instruction, and online learning, guaranteeing current and superior ayurvedic education.
