Established in 1965 by an Act of the Gujarat State Government, Govt. Akhandanand Ayurved College & Hospital is a pioneering statutory university in the area of Ayurveda that offers teaching, training, and research in a variety of Ayurvedic specialties. In addition to offering undergraduate education, the university offers postgraduate courses in several ayurvedic areas and carries out advanced clinical and experimental research in the field.
Ayurveda is becoming more and more popular abroad, and as a result, the university has decided to act as a central point for its global dissemination. Yoga & Naturopathy, Ayurvedic Medicinal Plant Sciences, and Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences are among the courses offered by the university. International students are enrolled in short- and long-term courses, as well as clinical training in several university departments, from a variety of nations in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America.
The university boasts stunning infrastructure and a huge, spreading campus. It features more than 300 beds in indoor hospitals for patient care, research, and student clinical training. Over 1500 patients visit the University Hospital’s different outpatient departments (OPDs), which offer specialist Ayurvedic treatments including panchakarma and ksharasutra, among others. This hospital treats a large number of patients with neurological disorders, paralysis, arthritic issues, immune-related disorders, skin ailments, piles, and fistula in Ano. There are well-established herb gardens available for instruction and training. Most of these services are provided without charge thanks to funding from the Gujarati and Indian governments.
